The month of February is meant to highlight the amazing Black creators, inventors, and activists that make the US and the rest of the world a better place for those that have been oppressed for years. While the two hosts are not part of the Black community, we are using the very small platform that we have to give them some more room to roam and reach others that they may not have been able to reach before.
Over the month we have looked into the differences that Black people have made in the world and discussed how different the world would be if it were not for these activities. Please join us as we work our way through the very massive amount of history that these great people influenced and the change that they led in the world.
Now, About That... Season 1 Episode 33 "The History of Black History Month"
Starting off the top five list is Harriet Tubman who worked to free over 300 enslaved Black Americans through the Underground Railroad. Booker T. Washington began the Tuskegee Institute to help educate Black Americans while also another advisor to many American Presidents was highlighted on the list at number four. Two people take the number three spot on this list with the Obamas included for their major influence on recent American history.
One person that co-host James knew very little about until this discussion was included in the list at number two, W.E.B. Du Bois. Du Bois is noted in the article as an influential Civil Rights activist that, while having differing approaches, is ranked closely with Booker T. Washington and Martin Luther King Jr.
Wrapping out the top of the list and as no surprise to anyone, Martin Luther King Jr. One of the most well-known Civil Rights Leaders, Martin Luther King Jr. has had a major influence in the motion that the world has moved to address some of the atrocities seen in the US.

Thurgood Marshall was the first Black person to hold a seat on America's Supreme Court and is well known for winning Brown v. Board of Education which helped fight against the still segregated public schools in the US. Next on the list was Gorge Washington Carver who was best known for developing hundreds of different uses for the peanut. Frederick Douglass was a writer, speaker, and abolitionist that work with and advised presidents and was the first Black man to hold any high ranking in the US government. Malcolm X was number seven on the list and noted as a Civil Rights Leader alongside Martin Luther King Jr. In no surprise to anyone, Oprah Winfrey was also included on this list at number six. In this week's episode, we look at over 100 inventions developed by Black inventors and how they impact everyday life. This episode was inspired by the TikTok created by Maya Echols in honor of Juneteenth in 2020. In this week's episode, we got a chance to interview and get to know an amazing creator and Rhode Island Native, Jariah from the booming TikTok Two Hungry Bitches. As she was our first guest, we did run into a few glitches with the audio, which was 100% James' fault. Throughout the conversation with Jariah, we discovered a few fun tidbits about the local eateries and other fun things to do in the area. Social media being the topic, we also explored some of the inner workings of Two Hungry Bitches and how they have been able to grow and provide interesting content.
